Introducing AEM: a music blog run by Sara and Kristen

AEM developed from our hopes of promoting and encouraging female journalists, musicians, songwriters, music lovers, and women in general to voice their opinions - particularly when it comes to music - and to let them know that their opinions do matter. We were inspired by the lack of respect for females in the indie music scene, but also amongst friends.
While some of us may be more vocal than others, and more aggressive when our male friends/lovers/colleagues/family ignore us or tell us that “female voices don’t translate emotion quite as well as male vocalists” or some other complete bullshit, many can be discouraged by those around us and left believing that our opinion may actually be irrelevant. But the fact is that no one’s voice is any less or more significant than anyone else’s when it comes to music - or any other topic - and you don’t have to be a music major, critic, or record exec to recommend a song or artist to a friend. No matter what genres and styles you listen to, your voice is important.
We are not against males voicing their opinions, or responding to our work, however, we are against the men in our lives telling us - verbally or otherwise - that women don’t have a place in musical discourse.
Finally, we hope to progressively provide diverse opinions on a wide variety of music, and to introduce new artists that everyone will love, regardless of genre/style preferences.

if you follow the paintbrush with your eyes while not moving your head, it forces you to use emdr which is a therapeutic technique to calm anxiety/panic. watching fish swim causes the same effect.
